Amy Parent James
Amy Parent James, Certified Advanced Rolfer and Rolf Movement Practitioner, and now a Certified Mentor with the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute, has been a licensed and practicing massage therapist since 1995. She is proud to have so many loyal clients (many are fellow therapists themselves), but she also loves to meet and work with new people as well.
Graduating magna cum laude with a BA in Kinesiology, Music and Communications from the University of North Texas, Amy had private practices in Texas and Costa Rica, and once they moved to Hawai’i in 2007, was employed at the Kona Village Resort Spa (until the tsunami in 2011.) She has enjoyed returning to working for herself in her thankfully busy private practice.
Amy received her initial Structural Integration and Movement training from the Rolf Institute in 2006 in Boulder, Colorado. She completed her advanced training in 2010. She incorporates many different modalities into her sessions, Neural Release and Cranio-sacral, Physiosynthesis, Trager, Brain Gym, etc.
Amy began teaching her style of bodywork, Harmoniously Flowing Embodiment, to advanced massage therapists in 2022, and offers continuing education classes annually. She is also available for Mentoring of Dr. Ida Rolf Institute students.

Lucky Amy gets to live on the big island of Hawai’i with her husband Christopher (see below), their son Felix, and numerous pets. She enjoys all outdoor activities including: stand-up paddleboarding, bodyboarding, ocean swimming, scuba diving, backpacking, biking, kayaking, and skiing. She also likes to cook vegetarian food, bake, read (a wide variety of genres) and play various musical instruments, recently joining the amazing ladies in Pahala playing Taiko drums.
Chris James
Chris became interested in Oriental medicine while working as a paramedic in southeast Texas. After working within the western paradigm and seeing it’s limitations, he began to explore alternatives and found Oriental medicine to be more appropriate to his views on health and healing. During the course of his studies he was drawn to the more gentle Japanese style of acupuncture and non-needle treatments.
When not pursuing the art of oriental medicine, he is managing Kona Cliffs the new rock climbing gym in Kona, writing guide books about the local outdoor climbing locations, and can also be found behind the drum kit with the band Steal Wool and various other local musicians.
